Handcrafted in Jaipur · Est. 1897Shashi — the moon, the original timekeeper of Indian festivals, of agricultural calendars, of the tides. In Sanskrit poetry, no other celestial body receives as much attention, as many names, as many attributes. The moon is both witness and protagonist — present at every important moment, marking every occasion that matters.
Crafted in 925 sterling silver with a two-tone finish, The Shashi centres on a chaand pendant — the crescent-and-circle moon form that has appeared in Indian jewellery since the Vedic period. The pendant is finished with gold foil work on silver, a technique that increases the durability of the gold surface while retaining the warm depth of the two-tone combination. Ghungroos hang at the pendant's base, adding sound to the moon's silent pull. A maroon thread sarafa suspends the whole at an adjustable length. Finished with anti-tarnish e-coating.
Style Tip: Maroon, deep ivory, or midnight blue — The Shashi belongs at the ceremonies that happen after dark, when the moon itself is visible. It is the necklace for weddings, for Karva Chauth, for all the occasions that the Indian calendar keeps specifically for the night.
