The Firoza Vel
Handcrafted in Jaipur · Est. 1897Firoza Vel is a choker and earring set. The choker carries a long navette-shaped kundan centrepiece in white kundan with turquoise and red accents and a red centre, tied on pearl strands, with a fringe of red oval drops, turquoise beads, seed pearls and tiny gold ghungroo beads. The earrings are chandbalis made to match: a kundan star at the top, a crescent of white kundan around a red centre, and the same red, turquoise and pearl fringe below. Kundan is set the old way — each stone bedded into pure gold foil by hand, so the light comes from underneath rather than off the surface.
Every Riwaayat piece is made in 925 sterling silver and finished with 22K gold plating, then given an anti-tarnish e-coating so the colour holds through a season of wear.

Turquoise has been worn in Rajasthan for centuries as a stone of protection. Known as the traveller's stone, it is believed to guard the wearer on the road and keep the mind steady.
Style Tip: Turquoise with red is the old Rajput pairing. Wear it with an ivory, mint or blush lehenga, or a pastel Banarasi, for the mehendi, the sangeet, or any wedding day where you want colour without going all-red.
