The Baadal
Handcrafted in Jaipur · Est. 1897Rain does not ask permission. It arrives when it is ready, and everything is changed. The Baadal takes its name from that moment — the exact second when the monsoon finally breaks, when abundance becomes visible and undeniable.
The most exceptional piece in The Durbar Edit, conceived as the centerpiece of a complete bridal set. Crafted in 925 sterling silver with 22K gold plating, a wide band of polki diamonds set in architectural formations anchors the upper body of this choker — a surface of quiet authority. Below it, an open-work gold lattice is strung with hundreds of baroque pearl drops, each one slightly different from the last, moving together like the first rain against a window. Anti-tarnish e-coated. In movement, it shimmers like a monsoon sky. In stillness, it is the most magnificent thing in the room.
Gemstone Wisdom. Baroque pearls — each one shaped by years of patient formation in the sea — are among the most ancient of all adornments. In the Vedic tradition, pearl is the Chandramani: the moon gem, the stone of purity, of emotional grace, of the kind of luminosity that comes from within and cannot be manufactured. Worn in hundreds, in a cascade, they carry that quality at maximum scale.
Style Tip: This necklace has one correct context: the most important occasion of the most important occasion. Ivory lehenga, plain fabric, nothing else above the collarbone. When The Baadal is worn, there is no other piece of jewellery in the room. There does not need to be.
