About This Piece

Vaidhurya is the Sanskrit name for lapis lazuli — a stone whose deep blue-ultramarine has made the same journey from the mines of Badakhshan to the workshops of Jaipur for over three thousand years. It is the blue that appears in Mughal miniature painting, in the walls of Rajput palaces, in the robes of the divine.

Crafted in 925 sterling silver, The Vaidhurya pairs turquoise and lapis dholki-cut stones along a twisted blue thread sarafa. The dholki cut — drum-shaped, slightly flattened — is a specifically Jaipuri stone-cutting tradition, made for exactly this kind of composition. The contrast between turquoise blue-green and lapis blue-ultramarine is one of the most enduring in Indian jewellery. Finished with anti-tarnish e-coating.

Gemstone Wisdom. Lapis lazuli is the stone of wisdom and inner truth — worn across civilisations as a stone of discernment. Turquoise is one of the oldest protective stones known, carried across the Silk Road and into every jewellery tradition that ever touched Rajasthan.

Style Tip: White, ivory, or slate blue — the full range of The Vaidhurya's blue becomes visible only against a neutral. Wear it alone. It is a necklace for those who understand the power of a single, uninterrupted colour.
