The Tribhanga
Handcrafted in Jaipur · Est. 1897Tribhanga — the three-bend posture of classical Indian sculpture and Bharatanatyam, the contrapposto of Indian aesthetics. It appears in every depiction of Krishna, in the dancers of Khajuraho, in the standing figure of the Nataraja. It is the posture of ease within structure, of movement held perfectly still.
Crafted in 925 sterling silver with an oxidised finish, The Tribhanga carries a large crescent-fan shaped pendant — the organic arc of the form a deliberate echo of that ancient posture. Ghungroos hang from the pendant's base, adding sound to movement. The green and red thread sarafa closes at an adjustable length. Finished with anti-tarnish e-coating.
Style Tip: Handloom silk, ikat, or heavy cotton — The Tribhanga belongs with textiles that were also made by hand. It is the necklace for women who dress with intention, who understand that tribal and classical are not opposites but the same thing viewed from different centuries.
