| The shuk — the parrot — as ancient messenger and court companion. This necklace is set in 925 sterling silver, two-tone plated, on a deep red braided cord. The chain carries white and red kundan stone clusters and pink CZ accents in silver oxidised settings, graduated toward a pendant of considerable narrative detail. The pendant is a three-part composition: a circular labradorite base on which a parrot in gold stands in profile — its body rendered in repoussé detail, the bird's eye a single dark point. Below, a rectangular labradorite stone in a gold frame. Further below, a gold lotus flower with scrolling branches from which a large labradorite teardrop falls on a fine chain, a small polki pearl as the final note. Labradorite — the stone of inner sight, transformation, and the magic of the unseen — gives the parrot its atmosphere. The shuk in Indian poetic tradition carries the message between worlds. This piece does the same. |
