The Morni Haar is Neeta Boochra's own heirloom. The original was gifted to her by her grandfather-in-law when she entered the Boochra family — a Victorian-era piece crafted in 22K gold, set with real faceted diamonds and Basra pearls, made in the period when Jaipur's karigars were producing their finest peacock compositions for the courts and the dynasties they served. It has remained in her personal collection across every significant occasion of four decades.
This recreation exists because of a question Neeta asked herself: why should a piece of this beauty be locked to one wardrobe? The form is preserved exactly — the peacock pose, the pakka meenakari palette, the scale of the central motif, the drape of the pearl strands, the proportion of every element. What has been translated is the material: 925 sterling silver with 22K gold plating in place of gold; Moissanite Polki and high-quality White CZ in place of the faceted diamonds; freshwater pearl in place of Basra. The intent is fidelity — the Boochra Morni Haar, made available to more than one wearer.
The Morni Haar necklace is crafted in 925 sterling silver with an oxidised silver finish accented by 22K gold plating on the peacock body. Six strands of freshwater pearls are draped in graduated swags across the throat. At the centre, the peacock pendant carries pakka meenakari — the real gold-like enamel that only a small number of Jaipur's master karigars still execute at this quality — in deep blue across the body, green along the neck, and red through the crown. Moissanite Polki and White CZ form the full halo of the fan-tail, each stone hand-set in the Jaipur polki tradition. A large baroque pearl hangs from the base. Anti-tarnish e-coated.
