The Kunjika
Handcrafted in Jaipur · Est. 1897Kunjika — the key. In classical Sanskrit, it names the thing that opens what was closed, that reveals what was concealed. Keys appear across the iconography of every civilisation: at the waist of the householder, at the gate of the treasury, at the threshold between one room and the next. Here, they hang from thread and silver, small and exact.
Crafted in 925 sterling silver with an oxidised finish, The Kunjika features silver medallion beads along a red and green twisted thread sarafa, from which key-shaped drops hang at intervals. The key is a form that requires precision — it is one of the few motifs in jewellery where each dimension matters, where the proportion is structural rather than decorative. The karigar who makes these drops works from a tradition of tribal silverwork where function and ornament have always been inseparable. Finished with anti-tarnish e-coating.
